Hippolyta Game

With spear in hand and horse in tow, Hippolyta is a sidescrolling action game where a quick mind and even quicker reflexes are pitted against enemies who would like nothing more than to run you through! Simple in concept but devilishly difficult in execution, you must make your way through lines of weapon-wielding enemies to progress further.

Be careful! These enemies are looking to kill you before you kill them. Use the SPACEBAR to throw your spear, but be quick! Reaction time is the difference between you surviving or ending up a bloody mess. Along your way you will encounter more than just enemies. Using WASD, command your horse to jump over rocks and duck under branches – or suffer the consequences!

Hippolyta was developed by Evil-Dog and offers more than just static, side-scrolling action. The game itself is played out through an engaging storyline, giving you a sense of progress as you soldier on. If you’re seeking an extra challenge, the game’s “Survival” and “Pursuit” modes offer up intense gameplay where reflexes are king. Hippolyta’s multiplayer mode allows for two players to race it out in one of two modes: speed race and obstacle race. Challenge your friends to see who is the fastest in the land!

Whether you’re looking to rack up the highest score, complete the storyline, or unlock all achievements, Hippolyta is an engaging game that you can easily enjoy for two minutes or two hours.

Tilt 3

Tilt 3 is an amazingly simple game developed by CheeseMind that will occupy any extra time that you have, whether at work or even at home. It is a game played online without downloading. Tilt 3 is a game of balance. One by one you have to use your mouse or cursor to keep the plates on your screen, balanced so that they dont fall over. Gravity starts to pull them to the left or right and the player needs to keep them from toppling.

Tilt 3 starts with one plate, so that you have a chance to get a feel for the controls and slowly they add two more plates for you to balance. Once you have three plates, the timer starts and the points accumulate. If a player is careful with their movements of the mouse, the plates will stay up longer. Overcompensating will only make the motions faster and more likely that the plates topple. When a plate topples, the game is over and your points stop. If you have a high score, you can submit it and try for an even higher score.

Tilt 3 is a game of quick thinking and the slight motions between each of the plates. Multi-maneuvering of the plates will have any player craving this game and trying to conquer their own high score.

One of many Pac-man bootlegs or knockoffs, I never guessed that they would have also made an upright machine as well. Check out the photo after the jump.

Maze Man upright arcade game

Unearthed in Lawton OK, I still don’t know much more about this game beyond the fact that it was made by Entertainment Industries / Technology – possible Enterprise? Using arcadeflyers.com as a resource doesn’t give us much of an indication, but does support the idea of an illegal bootleg.

Maze Man Upright Arcade Game

However, one clue – Dean on the Oklahoma forums posted that the PCB has some similarities to Falcon game boardsets. The first thought that popped into my head when I saw the photo brought me back to my post about Falcon games and the cabinet shape. This game has woodgrain sides, but that’s not to say that an operator added vinyl to the sides somewhere in its life to cover up some faded flaking screened sideart. The guys at Phoenix Arcade (Not to be confused with Darin Jacob’s artwork repro shop) found this machine, and that website is an interesting read if you have some time. An unfortunate story of a local arcade and a tremendous fire – hence the use of ‘Phoenix’.

A Maze’ing deal for the right buyer

Those guys travel quite the distances to pick up games, I’d be interested to hear where they found this Maze Man. It certainly is what I would call a ‘rare’ game but that is no indication of value. Working, worth $100? Maybe $150 to the right buyer? It would be worth that to me and I’d buy it just because it is such and oddball piece, if they were one state over and not some 13 hours away….

What is your guess? Artwork underneath the woodgrain?
